What If? · Reflections from the Founder

Inspired by the beautiful premise of James McCrae’s “Instructions Before Visiting Earth.”

Before you go, there are a few things you should know.

You are going to forget.

You will forget where you came from, why you came, and perhaps even that you chose to come at all. Don’t worry. Forgetting is part of the journey.

You will be given a body. Love it. Use it to dance, swim, taste, touch, make love, feel the sun on your face and hold the people you adore. It will change. It will age. One day you will give it back. You are not your body, but for a little while, it will be your beautiful way of experiencing Earth.

You will be given a name and, over time, many other names. Successful. Broken. Beautiful. Difficult. Mother. Father. Lover. Leader. Lost. Found. Remember, these are chapters in your story. They are not who you are.

You will meet people. Some will stay. Some will pass through. Some will awaken you. Some will break your heart. And every once in a while, you will meet someone who feels strangely familiar. You don’t have to understand why. Just notice.

Earth will make separation feel very real. You will look through your eyes and believe you end where another begins. But sometimes love, beauty, nature, stillness or something sacred will dissolve the distance, and for a moment you may remember:

We are not separate.
We were never separate.

You will get lost. You will make mistakes. You will change your mind. You will begin again.

This is allowed.

Look for beauty. Laugh often. Stay curious. Tell people you love them while they are here to hear it. Watch sunsets. Look at the moon. Follow the questions that won’t leave you alone.

And when the world becomes too loud, become still.

Beneath your name, your story, your fear and everything you have been told you are, something remains.

Some call it consciousness. Some call it soul. Some call it Source. Some call it God.

The name isn’t important.

Perhaps you came here simply to remember it.

So go.

Love deeply. Experience everything. Follow the rabbit holes.

And every once in a while, look up and remember:

You are something infinite having a very temporary human experience.

Welcome to Earth.

Try not to miss it.
